Teacher Education, Changing Lives The course provides our trainee teachers with the knowledge, resilience and passion to succeed as teachers in the lifelong learning sector. We aim for our trainees to be armed with the skills they need to make teaching their own lifelong career. The lifelong learning sector has gone through significant changes through the previous years and, as such, it has struggled to find a place in the UK educational system. The introduction of the ETF Professional Standards has helped to define the professional requirements necessary to outline teaching within this diverse sector. This course is underpinned by these ETF standards and, as such, are embedded within all that we do. Working in the lifelong learning sector it is vital that all teachers and trainers consistently reflect on their practice in order to meet the dynamic needs of this ever-evolving sector. Our trainees will be working in diverse environments but meeting the individual requirements of all students, allowing them to achieve. Our teacher trainees may find themselves delivering in a range of settings from Motor Vehicle Workshops to Animal Care to Psychology in Higher Education and this course will equip them to excel in their chosen pathway. Trainees will explore and critique current issues as well as acquire technical competence in approaches to the four central concepts of pedagogy, andragogy, curriculum and assessment. They will explore and critique the ETF professional standards and the application within their current practice. The part-time programme is suitable for those wanting to pursue a career in teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector; that is teaching students age 14 years and above. The programme is part-time and suitable for those who are currently employed in a teaching role. This is a two-year course.
