Course summary
The Management (People Management) course at Kent quips students with the skills to make them a confident business leader. You will develop skills in areas of core business functions – from hiring staff to managing inventories and everything in between. You will become an excellent communicator with the confidence to build relationships and initiate change in any organisation. You’ll develop a deep understanding of management and related functions, such as ethics and sustainability, marketing, financial management, HR management, entrepreneurship, and project management alongside compulsory modules that will help you prepare to become a strong leader in your future career. As you progress through the course, you’ll focus more on areas relevant to human resource management such as diversity in organisations and people analytics, depending on which of the optional modules you choose. Taking a Year Abroad and choosing to study in one of our partner universities will allow you to experience another country and culture as you study, and build valuable experience that bolsters your CV. Modules
Stage 1 Your first year is designed to provide you with a solid foundation in the understanding of management and related functions, such as marketing, financial management and aspects of global management. Stage 2 Your second year allows you to develop your critical thinking of international business with greater emphasis on the key concepts and theories to develop intellectual agility and provides an opportunity to apply theory to practice. You will have a choice of optional modules, allowing you to focus on areas you wish to explore such as diversity, marketing research and consultancy. Year Abroad: The Year Abroad is an amazing opportunity giving you the chance to develop personally, academically, and professionally. You will spend a year between Stages 2 and 3 studying at one of our partner universities in Europe or Asia gaining a new academic perspective and experiencing a different culture. Stage 3 Your final year offers you flexibility around your interests and prepares you to take up leading roles in the innovative world of organisation. You will take a mixture of compulsory and optional modules focusing on people management, and an optional module from our wider KBS portfolio of business-related topics. You can also decide to change course pathways before you start stage 3 if your passion has changed along the way.
