Course summary
Foundation Entry degree courses are designed for students who have the ability to study for a degree, but don’t have the necessary formal qualifications to enter directly onto their chosen Honours degree programme. Are you looking to capture the imagination of an audience? Our Animation degree will help you develop the practical skills and technical expertise you need to create your own film by the end of the course. You will be encouraged to express your own creativity and ideas and thanks to our close links with employers, there’s the chance to work on ‘live’ projects from industry so that you know your skills are relevant - indeed Course Leader Sarah Kennedy works on animated kids programme, Peppa Pig. You will be creating in the studio from day one, using the very latest animation software, for which UCLan is one of only four institutions in the country to have a tailor-made programme. Students from this course have gone on to win various awards including the Royal Television Society Award for animation for the last two years. Our graduates enjoy careers as animators, model-makers, editors, directors, script writers, set designers, and sound designers. Charlotte Blacker won the RTS award for best undergraduate film in the country; she is currently working at Loose Moose in London. Her graduation film the 'Little Red Plane' has been shown in various films festivals, including The Children’s Festival in New York. She is much in demand in the USA for series work and short animated films. Kyle Webster and Andrew Jolly have started their own successful animation company Chog Zoo.
