It is suitable for those in both the legal and maritime industry who are looking to enhance their career prospects. This unique distance learning programme for the shipping sector will:

  • allow you to develop an advanced understanding of an aspect of maritime law through independent research
  • improve both your research and independent study skills
  • enhance your ability to develop substantiated critical argument
There will be formative assessment on the research proposal and literature review which will precede the substantive research for the dissertation. The summative assessment will be entirely by way of the dissertation.

The top-up programme consists of a 10,000 - 15,000 word dissertation.

You will be required to have passed the Postgraduate Diploma in Maritime Law at one of the following institutions: London Metropolitan University, Lloyd’s Maritime Academy or World Maritime University.
