BusinessCourse summary
Noted for depth, breadth and innovation, the research output of our historians covers a vast range of topics. Our research expertise extends from ancient to contemporary times; Britain to America, the Middle East, Asia and Australia; and from political history to economic, medical and environmental history. In particular, the History Department has special strengths in culture and politics; identities; gender and power; and ideas, belief and societies. Entry requirements
Normally an Upper-Second Class Bachelor's degree, or a Master's degree, in a related subject. For the MRes we require a good undergraduate degree in History or a cognate subject (usually of a British 2.1 or above standard). Non-standard backgrounds may be considered. For the MPhil/PhD we normally require a good Masters degree in History or in a subject that is cognate with History (such as Politics or English Literature). There are minimum English language requirements for overseas students in line with general admission policies to the college.
