- Foundation Entry degree courses are designed for students who have the ability to study for a degree, but don’t have the necessary formal qualifications to directly enter their chosen Honours degree programme.
- Fire and fire safety are key issues in building, infrastructure design and high-hazard industries. Our programme was developed in consultation with employers and professional bodies and because of our established research base, the content is current and highly relevant.
- Take an extra year to benefit from project work, liaising between fire engineers and other members of the design and management teams. Deepen your knowledge and enhance your real-world experience.
- Our course builds on the training and educational programmes offered by the Institution of Fire Engineers.
- You’ll get the chance to work with fire safety engineering companies, all with the aim of boosting your employability when you graduate.
- This course is practical and focuses on fire in the context of buildings and infrastructure, the technology for predicting fires, and designs for fire safety.
- This course offers an optional 48-week sandwich placement. You’re responsible for finding your own placement. The Faculty Placement Team and University of Central Lancashire Careers Team will support you, helping you to plan and develop your CV and applications. They also hold practice interviews.
- Placements are an invaluable opportunity to help consolidate your first two years of learning, gain experience, and radically enhance your employability. Experience gained during a placement often leads to improved final year performance and is of real benefit when you’re competing for graduate jobs.
