Course summary
Through the unique programme design, excellent industry reputation and alumni success; the Foundation Degree in Make-up Artistry produces qualified make-up artists who are equipped with all the skills necessary to be successful within the media make-up industry. Throughout the programme; students will develop and hone their practical makeup artistry talent and additionally, gain an understanding of vital hairstyling skills which are vital for a successful career in the Editorial, TV and film industry. The Foundation Degree will also support student’s academic skillset; each module has both practical and theoretical components which allow students to flourish into well-rounded professionals. The Make-Up Artistry programmes are designed to offer stimulating, relevant and appealing curricula that will be valued by students and employers both nationally and internationally. Students have greatly impacted the course design process and have been consulted on the content of every module. The programmes currently have an established reputation within the industry for producing talented, creative and highly motivated Make-Up Artists. Work based learning underpins the Make-up Artistry Foundation Degree; equipping the students with necessary promotional tools and work based employment to support them in entering the local and global creative make-up industry. UCAS Tariff - 64 points
We strongly recommend that all applicants have GCSE English Language and Mathematics grades A*-C or level 9-4. Applicants who do not meet the standard entry criteria but have previous learning towards a degree-level qualification or relevant industry or life experience will be considered on an individual basis and may be invited to interview.
Additional entry requirements
Interview
Applicants may be invited to attend an interview where they will be asked to provide examples of written work, a portfolio of images demonstrating their skills within make-up / hair, or provide examples of designs work/illustrations. They will also hear more about the course structure, see the facilities and meet the staff. The whole process could take between 2-3 hours. There is availability for a remote interview for overseas/applicants who have to travel; links to e-portfolios and written work will be submitted electronically prior to the remote Interview taking place. Mature applicants (aged 21 or over) who are able to demonstrate relevant skills or knowledge gained in employment or vocational activity will be considered and may be invited to interview.
