Course summary

Eager to learn the skills needed to keep athletes in peak physical condition? This applied sports therapy degree provides hands-on experience working with clients in our on-campus clinic. And it’s accredited by the Society of Sports Therapists. The human body is often pushed to its limits in pursuit of sporting excellence. Unfortunately, injury can be a unwanted consequence of this. You’ll learn how to keep athletes in top condition and how to help injured athletes through rehabilitation, by planning and implementing a comprehensive programme. Imagine the feeling when you help someone return to peak fitness and competitive sport. Our sports therapy degree is accredited by The Society of Sports Therapists, which means you’ll be working to the highest professional standards. Plus, when you graduate, you’ll be eligible for membership of The Society of Sports Therapists which carries professional indemnity insurance. The Department of Sport and Physical Activity has excellent multipurpose facilities, including specialist laboratories, dedicated sports therapy clinical areas and bespoke rehabilitation and musculoskeletal suites. We also have football, rugby and hockey pitches, tennis courts, athletics track and field, a swimming pool and a fitness suite. All of which you’ll use as part of your study on our sports therapy degree.

Assessment method

You will be assessed using practical examinations, clinical portfolios, essays, critical analysis of papers, oral presentations, case studies and independent research.
