Combine creative flair with an understanding of design for 21st century manufacture. Specialise in user-centred or technically-oriented design as you prepare for a career making effective, attractive products that people want. It’s all about giving you the skills to work in a modern design environment, combining traditional approaches with latest technologies in CAD, visualisation, manufacturing and rapid prototyping. The course can be tailored to match your personal interests too; there is a common first year for all product design students, after which you can choose whether to focus on a BA (Hons) or BSc (Hons) pathway. How you will learn You’ll work in studios and workshops running advanced computer-based systems and will develop a strong understanding of theory through lectures, seminars and debates. We teach in small groups so you’ll enjoy plenty of support to nurture your personal design enthusiasms and directions. You'll spend your first year developing an understanding of which direction you want to focus on and then choose between a BA (Hons) or BSc (Hons) at stage 2. Opportunities and experiences Employer-sponsored assignments and live project work are cornerstones of BA (Hons)/BSc (Hons) Product Design. You can even take an optional placement year in industry.
