The computing and digital technology sector in the Uk is growing year on year and now has a turnover of around £184bn and employs 1.1 million people. The digital and technology sector is a government priority and have been identified as key to the economic growth of the Uk. This course will provide you with the skills you need to succeed in the digital technology and computer science sector, helping you to find work in this exciting fast paced constantly evolving industry. Our course in Computer Science has a strong emphasis on the practical skills required to gain employment in the technical digital. As well as practical skills in programming you will also cover areas such as databases, web and mobile app development, graphics, cyber security and computer networks. We will provide you with the technical tools and knowledge to develop software for a variety of applications. You will also learn about the science behind computing and principles behind emerging technologies such and artificial intelligence and control systems.

Leeds City College welcomes applications from mature* applicants who may not have met the academic criteria, but who can demonstrate a wealth of experience in their chosen field. Candidates in this category and otherwise are likely to be interviewed to assess their suitability for the course and may be asked to provide a portfolio of evidence to support their application. *21 years and over at the start of the course
Other
Maths Grade C or above (grade 4 for those sitting their GCSE from 2017 onwards). Key Skills Level 2, Functional Skills Level 2 and the Certificate in Adult Numeracy are accepted in place of GCSEs.
English language requirements
English Language Grade C or above (grade 4 for those sitting their GCSE from 2017 onwards)is desirable but not essential. Key Skills Level 2, Functional Skills Level 2 and the Certificate in Adult Literacy are accepted in place of GCSEs. IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any component.
