Course summary
TEF Silver
University of Chichester has opted into the TEF and received a Silver award.
A unique characteristic of the BA (Hons) Event Management degree at Chichester is the emphasis on an applied and practical approach to teaching via direct engagement with the people relating to the event industry, culminating with students delivering their own events during the final two years of the degree. Instead of writing a thesis students will spend their final year designing, producing and delivering a ‘live’ event for a client. The degree has been designed in consultation with professional event organizations to ensure an appropriate balance between the academic context for events, and an appreciation of the applied logistical, business and operational elements of event management. Professionals from the industry are also part of the teaching delivery team. The event management degree route draws on the skills and expertise of teaching staff from a range of disciplines and includes modules in the areas of business management, project management, and hospitality.
Course details
Modules
Year one of the degree is a broad business programme giving you a robust underpinning of key business areas before progressing to years two and three and more focused modules in event management. Specialist event modules include: designing and organizing events; applied event management; managing mega-events; sustainable event management; finance for events; international perspectives. If exams are your nightmare, we have that covered too. We can’t get rid of them completely, but they make up just 10% of the total assessment for the degree. The events that you organize as part of your training will be marked and will count towards your degree. All of this means you leave us as an employable graduate.

English language requirements
Test | Grade | Additional details |
---|---|---|
IELTS (Academic) | 6 | |
PTE Academic | 50 |
The standard entry requirement for this programme is IELTS 6.0 with no element lower than 5.5. However, you can begin your 3-year degree programme with IELTS 5.5. Our International Route allows you to take 4 credit-bearing modules in International English Studies (IES) as part of your first year studies. This means you study 4 modules in your chosen subject and 4 in International English. The IES Modules allow you to focus on personal language development and your use of English as an academic language. Then, at the end of your first year, you’ll have all the necessary language skills to transfer to full study of your main subject. If you have an IELTS score under 5.5 you can still begin a 3-year degree programme with us. In this case we provide a 5 or 10 week intensive Presessional Programme in English language and academic skills. For the 10 week Programme you’ll need IELTS 4.5, and IELTS 5.0 for the 5 week Programme.
