Animation is communication through movement and narrative and this degree will help you to build your practice and apply your animation skills to a broad range of careers. This course encourages you to think on your feet and respond to live and self-initiated briefs to solve creative problems. Our students are adaptive thinkers who understand how animation may collaborate with other art forms. We use a mix of practice and theory-based learning, including lectures, seminars, workshops, individual tutorials and self-directed study. You will explore the medium using industry standard software and will produce an assessed portfolio of creative and professional work. Animation graduates often work as 3D/2D generalists as well as specialists in areas including concept, modelling, animation and VFX production. Our graduates are often employed in film and television, visual effects, advertising, post-production, apps and games. This course is a Four year programme, consisting of a Year 0 year progressing into the three year BA (Hons) Animation programme.
You will be continually assessed through the presentation of project and written work. You will produce practical work and in your final year make or contribute to the making of a short animated piece. Essays, blog entries, business plans, reports and a dissertation also form part of the requirements of the course.
