Immerse yourself in the world of law and legal practice on this integrated master’s degree that prepares you for the Solicitors Qualifying Exam This course provides a solid foundation for aspiring solicitors in England and Wales. As part of this course, you’ll:

  • Build your comprehensive understanding of the law, studying topics that could vary from public law and the English legal system to property law and equity and trusts
  • Evaluate how the rule of law applies across a range of contexts, including legal, social, economic, commercial, political, historical, ethical and cultural
  • Develop the skills, knowledge and competencies required to be a solicitor

Law in Practice guest lectures We regularly welcome guest speakers in prominent legal positions to share their experience of the profession. Previous speakers include human rights campaigner Baroness Shami Chakrabarti, and Leader of the Labour Party, Sir Keir Starmer. You’ll be able to access their lectures digitally if you’re unable to attend on-campus. The Law Clinic Our Law Clinic brings local law firms even closer to our student community and provides a confidential environment for members of the public to seek free legal advice. If you get involved, you'll develop key transferable skills and gain invaluable first-hand experience of legal practice to enhance your CV. Mooting You’ll have the opportunity to develop valuable advocacy skills through our active mooting programme. You could also enter regional and national competitions to hone your skill in this area. Mentoring scheme Our mentoring scheme is an integral part of the educational experience at Leeds Law School. You'll be paired with a professional mentor from Leeds’ legal community, who will provide invaluable insight into the legal profession to support your educational development and enhance career opportunities. You’ll be able to read texts online or download chapters in PDF format to read offline or print as you wish.
