Course summary
Zoology can be applied to the key challenges affecting our planet today, from the effects of global warming on animal life, to the ecological impact of populations and animals, and the survival of endangered species. On your four-year integrated Zoology masters you will explore all areas of animal life from cell biology to entire ecosystems, developing an understanding of fields including evolution, conservation, and behaviour. Upon graduation you will be prepared for a broad variety of careers including laboratory or field-based research, jobs in conservation and animal management. Our expertise stretches from evolution and behaviour to gene regulation, neuroscience and development in a variety of animals. Our unique link with world-renowned conservation charity Marwell Wildlife, located only a few miles from our campus in Southampton, provides an opportunity to develop specific interests and expertise in zoology. You have the opportunity to carry out your final-year research project in collaboration with Marwell or a number of other organisations in the UK or abroad. You will be taught by our expert lecturers and can also benefit from gaining extensive practical experience from a variety of field trips on offer in the UK, Spain and Belize.
