Course summary
Our BA (Honours) Film and Digital Broadcast Production degree brings together a wide range of practical skills and technical understanding from areas that are increasingly converging. You'll build up production skills covering the creation of ideas from written concepts, scripts and audience research through to filming and editing for film, television, audio and online. The aim is that graduates will be best placed to secure employment either as freelance or for an organisation. Based at the newly-developed Digital Media Centre at our ultra-modern City Hub campus, you'll have access to a new broadcasting studio and podcasting/audio studio complex as well as the industry-standard Adobe Creative Suite. You will also have numerous opportunities to collaborate with other creative students, working on real-life industry briefs. This award is validated by The Open University. About the course Year 1 (Level 4) provides clear foundations on which to build your skills in both practical film/broadcast productions and the concepts behind them. You will undertake practical units in camera, editing and broadcast studio technology whilst studying ideas and concepts in analysing visual imagery, interpreting narratives and understanding audiences. For direct entry to Year 2, applicants must have passed (or expect to achieve) 120 academic credits from undergraduate study in a relevant subject area. For example, by passing a full Level 4 qualification (such as a Higher National Certificate, Certificate of Higher Education or equivalent).
