Course summary

The foundation year of this Coventry University degree will be delivered from our CU Coventry campus. Course delivery from year 1 of the degree onwards will be from Coventry University campus. This course aims to provide you with a solid grounding for a career path across the world of finance and investment. The foundation year seeks to provide the fundamental knowledge and skill set in a range of mathematical and business principles, as well as the theories and concepts involved in investment risk and professional ethics. Students who successfully complete their foundation year will then progress onto the Finance and Investment BSc (Hons) degree within Coventry University’s Business School. Key benefits of the degree

Modules

The foundation year, which takes place at our CU Coventry premises, provides a solid base of mathematical and business skills, theories and concepts involved in investment risk and professional ethics. Modules include: Business Communication and Numeracy Finance and Capital Markets Business Economics Global Economics Progressing to the first year at Coventry University campus, you will be part of a common first year, enabling you to work alongside students doing similar courses to you, to widen your knowledge and exposure to other subject areas and professions. You will have the opportunity to collab0 creditsorate with other students, so you can share your insights and experience which will help you to develop and learn. Year 1 modules:

  • Business Accounting
  • Entrepreneurial Thinking
The second year gives you the opportunity to further develop the knowledge you have gained. You will have the opportunity to learn about financial regulation, derivatives, economics of banking and finance, and enhance your employability skills. Placement Year - There’s no better way to find out what you love doing than trying it out for yourself, which is why a work placement can often be beneficial. Work placements usually occur between your second and final year of study. They’re a great way to help you explore your potential career path and gain valuable work experience, whilst developing transferable skills for the future. During this time you will receive guidance from your employer or partner institution, along with your assigned academic mentor who will ensure you have the support you need to complete your placement. If you choose to do a work placement year, you will pay a reduced tuition fee* of £1,250. For more information, please visit the Coventry University website*. Your final year aims to prepare you for the world of work by consolidating your knowledge and skills from previous years. You could also work on a large final project in an area of your interest, with the support of a supervisor. Assessment method

This course will be assessed using a variety of methods which will vary depending upon the module. Assessment methods include formal examinations , phase tests, essays, group work, presentations, reports, projects, coursework, exams, and individual assignments.
