Course summary

The words ‘supply chain’ have never been more in the news than in 2020. The world-wide Covid-19 pandemic had presidents and prime ministers across the world talking about the importance of effective supply chains, to ensure essential equipment was available to key workers everywhere. This crisis demonstrated how important the different aspects of the supply chain are, from procurement, through manufacturing and transportation, to storage and delivery to the front line. Our Supply Chain Management masters course is delivered in partnership by the triple-accredited Aston Business School and the School of Engineering and Applied Science, combining the knowledge and expertise of both schools. We have very close links with business, with many of the team coming to the university from industry themselves, combining practical knowledge and experience with academic rigor. What you’ll learn You’ll gain in-depth knowledge and understanding of the theoretical and applied perspectives of supply chain management and logistics. The programme has a particular focus on the effective deployment of advanced technology in environmentally sustainable and globally connected supply chains. You'll also have the opportunity to develop your areas of interest through a range of specialist modules and completion of a major project. You’ll undertake real-life projects throughout your course with modules taught using industry-related case studies and current research in the field. We're uniquely positioned, in the heart of the UK supply chain, to be able to welcome guest speakers from leading companies to share their experiences with you. Field trips to local businesses such as Jaguar Land Rover will give you a real insight into industry. Accreditation This course is triple accredited by the three important industry bodies in the UK; CILT, CIPS and CMI. The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) is the benchmark professional body in the world of management and leadership. You will have a CMI membership including access to CMI digital resources, online webinars and their online resource portal. The Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) accreditation will offer you a range of resources designed to support your studies and career progression, including engagement with industry.
