Children's nursing is a rewarding career involving caring for new-born babies in intensive care to looking after young people, whilst offering support to family members. The care they provide can span across a wide range of needs from the sick new-born baby to the young person who has a chronic disease. Wherever children require care, including their home, school, a residential setting or in hospital. The field of Children & Young Peoples nursing enables you to develop the knowledge and skills to provide safe and effective nursing care to children and young people. This enables you to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a registered Child Nurse in a variety of health care settings. It will educate you to a high clinical, professional and academic standard ready to practice in the 21st century. This is a professional vocational award that carefully integrates theory and practice, with 50% of the programme delivered in practice and 50% within the University. Please note: The first year of this course will be taught at Wolverhampton City Campus, followed by three years at Walsall Campus.

Qualification requirements
Prepare for foundation condition: All offer holders who accept the University of Wolverhampton will be required to attend a one-day Prepare for Foundation programme. This programme is designed to introduce you to studying a health professional course, answer your questions, meet staff and fellow students. You will take part in a variety of subject related activities to help you prepare for your course and kick start your academic experience with us. Don't have GCSE English and/or Maths? Take our Equivalency Assessments We understand that not everyone is able to achieve GCSE Maths and English for a variety of reasons. Our equivalency assessments provide an opportunity for you to further your English and/or Maths skills ready for your studies, as well as being able to meet part of the entry requirements for many of our undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Our online equivalency assessments are free of charge and accepted as the equivalent to a GCSE for the majority of our courses, however applicants of Initial Teacher Training courses will need to sit an on-campus equivalency test which costs £35 - visit our website for further information www.wlv.ac.uk

If you are a UK student enrolling on a full-time Foundation Degree or a Bachelor degree programme at the University of Wolverhampton in 2023/4, your fee for this academic year will be £9,250. This is a yearly fee, and will increase with inflation in subsequent years (in line with the government’s fee requirements).
