Mechanical engineering plays an essential role at every level in society. Our course is for you if you’re a newly qualified or practising engineer looking to improve your expertise in specialist areas. Our MSc will enhance both your theoretical knowledge and practical skills in areas such as:

- advanced thermofluids
- advanced manufacturing techniques
- dynamics of solids
- heat transfer.
Course details
Modules
These modules are running in the academic year 2019/20. We also plan to offer them in future academic years. They may become unavailable due to staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum. We’ll make sure to let our applicants know of such changes to modules at the earliest opportunity. Core modules are taken by all students on the course. They give you a solid grounding in your chosen subject and prepare you to explore the topics that interest you most.

Entry requirements
You should normally have a lower second-class (2.2) undergraduate honours degree or above. Your qualification should be in engineering (mechanical or automotive), mathematics, or physics. You can also apply for this course if your qualification is in a closely related discipline where you have studied mechanics, dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid flow. You may also be considered for the course if you have other professional qualifications or experience of equivalent standing.
