Course summary

Blending a rigorous understanding of fundamental theory with evidence about real world problems you’ll analyse recent innovations in theory, policy and practice. Drawing on a range of disciplinary approaches, the course will enable you to develop a rational and just response to crime. Modules

Compulsory classes: Criminal Justice and Penal Decision-Making, Punishment and Processes of Penal Change, Research Methods, Dissertation Research Project. Elective Modules include: Restorative Justice, Childhood and Crime, Surveillance, Technology and Crime Control, Offender Supervision and Management, Homicide, International Criminal Justice.

Assessment method

Assessment is based on your performance in coursework and/or the written exam papers. For those seeking award of the LLM you’ll need to complete a dissertation.


How to apply

International applicants

We require a minimum overall score of IELTS 6.5, with no individual test score below 6.0. Valid for two years.

Entry requirements

First- or upper second-class Honours degree, or overseas equivalent, in law, one of the social sciences, business or humanities. Entry may be possible with other qualifications and/or experience. Please note: a Law degree is not a prerequisite for entry to this course.
