Please check the Northern College website for the latest information.** The Foundation of Sciences Degree (FdSc) Professional Practice in Health and Social Care is a two-year full time, foundation degree course. It is made up of on-campus delivery at Northern College and a placement in a suitable environment to develop the skills needed to work in Health and Social Care. Students will be registered at both Sheffield Hallam University and Northern College, and benefit from:
- choosing to study residentially at Northern College to focus on their studies and receive wrap-around support
- be surrounded by over 500 acres of National Trust gardens and parkland free to explore during their studies at Northern College
- have access to small class sizes and excellent on-campus support
- study in a college designed only for adults which has excellent achievement rates and is rated outstanding by Ofsted.

(20 Credits) The evidence for the work-based learning modules in Year 1 and 2 will be from your work placement.
Qualified teacher status (QTS)
To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:
