Course summary
Do you want to top up your level 5 qualification to a full degree in Health and Social Care? A Top-up degree is the equivalent to the final year of an undergraduate degree. This programme aims to provide a natural progression for students who may have completed a related foundation degree or equivalent level 5 qualification (e.g. HND). Top-up degrees enable students to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding of a particular topic. The BSc Health & Social Care (Top up) provides students with the opportunity to graduate with an honour's degree. The course draws on a range of local, national and international perspectives and theory. The teaching and learning on this course will reflect the real world of health and social care. In some modules, students will use real world experience to inform ideas; in others, simulated case studies are used so that the students can apply theoretical knowledge and statistics to them. The dissertation module will provide the students with the opportunity to research a specialist area of their choice that will equip them with skills to enter the job market, progress in their work place or continue in post-graduate studies. The programme also opens up opportunities for careers in health, care and community based organisations and projects in public, private or third sector. This course is primarily designed for face-to-face learning, with attendance during lessons for the specified hours within the validation document. However, there may be periods of study where the government advises TEC Partnership that it is not safe to open campuses, or there is limited access due to social distancing measures. If the campus is closed, TEC Partnership will deliver your sessions online and offer you the necessary support and resources remotely. If there is limited access due to social distancing measures a blended model will be adopted, with some lessons taking place in small groups and others using online sessions and support.

A range of assessment methods is used on the course. The diversity of assessment methods is a key component of student learning and academic progression, and this includes the use of written assignments, reports, oral assessments, portfolio, set exercises and a dissertation.
