This exciting new course aims to meet the needs of future artists and designers in the contemporary creative industries. Dedicated pathways provide the opportunity to explore a specialist medium in detail, in preparation for further degree-level study or working in industry. Within the HNC Art and Design course, the 3D Design specialist pathway embraces the skills, language and knowledge needed to succeed at the cutting edge of this global communications industry. Students will be encouraged to explore their creativity, take risks, build their confidence, and prepare to reach their potential. For the course scheduled to begin in February 2022, course delivery is planned to run through continuously until the end of August 2022. About the course There is an emphasis on employability skills and the knowledge essential for students with entrepreneurial, employment or academic aspirations. Programme content is designed to be appropriate for entry to or progression within the creative sector and to enable progress to higher study at Level 5 on the Higher National Diploma (HND) and Level 6 BA (Hons) Art and Design or BA (Hons) Digital Media Design top-up degree pathways. HNC Core modules include:

- Techniques & Processes
- Screen-based Practices
- Digital Design Practices
- select one or two units to make up to 120 credits of study
A combination of traditional and innovative assessment methods are utilised such as: projects, presentations, industry work experience and individual or group assignments. There are no examinations.

For entry to our university-level courses, we expect applicants to be working (or to demonstrate competency) at Level 2 or above in English Language/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy. Generally, we accept GCSE passes in English Language and Mathematics at Grades 9 – 4 (formerly Grades A* - C). Experienced mature applicants (those aged 21 or above at the start of the course) with relevant professional or industrial experience and/or qualifications are very welcome to apply.
