Course summary

This is an exciting new course that leads to Qualified Teacher Status, allowing you to each in schools and early years settings as a qualified teacher. You will be joining and experienced teacher training provider that has an established school partnership across 4 local authorities. On successful completion of the course you will be awarded Qualified Teacher Status. You will learn through taught sessions on campus and supported professional practice in schools and early years settings, applying theory to your teaching practice to develop the core skills for teaching children aged 3-7. You will study child development, learning and teaching theories and carry out a small-scale research project in your final year, as you develop your commitment to meeting the needs of all children in a culturally diverse society. In addition you will have the opportunity to develop your teaching schools in a range of schools and early years settings throughout the course. The course enables you to develop leadership and management skills, along with an ability to work in partnership with different stakeholders and to communicate with children, colleagues, parents/carers and other professionals. The School of Teacher Education celebrates excellent employability in which over 95% of its graduate teachers secure teaching roles in school within 6 months of graduation. Throughout the course you will be offered advice through workshops and experienced teachers on application and interviews leading to you becoming an Early Career Teacher. You will benefit from an experienced University teaching team that includes previous Early and Primary Education teachers, as well as middle and senior leaders within schools and early years settings.
