TEF Bronze
University of Westminster, London has opted into the TEF and received a Bronze award.
Our Biology research has an applied focus with real-world impact. Experienced and research-active staff work in close collaboration with the bio-industry, NHS and other research institutions within the UK, Europe and the US. Our interests include:
- Water Science. This aims to promote dynamic and proactive scientific study of water resources, engaging with the wider community to facilitate demand-led and evidence-based policy development for sustainable water management nationally and internationally.
- Cell biology. This focuses on the way cells adapt, survive and differentiate in response to physiological and pathophysiological stimuli.
- Patient centered therapeutics. Looking at drug development, disease detection and epidemiology.

International applicants
This course has a subject classification which requires students whose nationality is outside the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland to have an ATAS certificate, irrespective of country of residence at the point of application.

Entry requirements
Applicants should have a minimum classification of 2.1 in their first degree or equivalent and preferably a master's degree (or masters degree pending). Applicants whose first degree has not been studied in English should have IELTS 6.5 overall and 6.0 in all elements. Submissions for this award will consist of a coherent body of work which is of the same quality, rigour and volume as required of a standard PhD in your field and which constitutes an original contribution to knowledge. Publications considered appropriate for this route can include books and book chapters, refereed journal papers. The body of work may not include any material produced more than ten years before the date of submission. Applicants need to submit a research proposal of 2000 words which should include a list of applicant's publications with dates, word count, percentage of contribution for any collaborative work and confirmation from co-authors of this percentage. References are normally required and if not provided with your application will be requested at a later date.
