95% of our research overall in Mathematical Sciences was assessed to be world leading or internationally excellent (REF 2021) 1st in the UK for Citations in Physical Sciences (The Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2023) About the course From the foundations to the forefront of research, you’ll gain a thorough grounding in the theories and techniques that underlie modern mathematics. You’ll learn from experts involved in real-world research projects in areas as diverse as aeroelasticity in aircrafts to predicting floods, and search engine algorithms to infectious disease control. You study modules based on the latest research, including mathematical biology, partial differential equations, numerical analysis and probability. The use of industry-standard software (such as MATLAB, SAS and R) develops your analytical and modelling skills. You benefit from our links to graduate employers, with opportunities to meet potential employers and secure placements. You’re also supported throughout your degree by an academic advisor and will graduate with the knowledge to take your career in any direction you choose. During your integrated Masters year, you’ll develop new research skills – particularly relevant if you're interested in going on to a research career at universities or in industry. Accreditation This degree is accredited to meet the educational requirements of the Chartered Mathematician designation awarded by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications. MMath or BSc?
