This course is designed to enable students to develop a critical understanding of policy and practice, through the provision of a range of challenging modules and learning experiences, relevant to the future needs of students considering employment or further study in the areas of community and social care practice. This degree programme will:
- Enable students to critically analyse the contribution of a range of social, behavioural and political concepts and apply to community and social care policy and practice
- Enable students to develop knowledge, personal skills and personal interests in areas relevant to community and social care policy and practice
- Enable students to develop a critical understanding of policy and practice, through the provision of a range of challenging modules and learning experiences, relevant to the future needs of students considering employment or further study in the areas of community and social care practice
- Develop skills of research analysis, reflection and evaluation and apply these skills in community practice and service development

Assessment strategies are varied and include poster presentations, essays, case studies, community studies and work based learning portfolios.

We operate a flexible admissions policy and treat everyone as an individual. This means that we will take into consideration your educational achievements and predicted grades (where applicable) together with your application as a whole, including work experience and personal statement. General Studies accepted. Because the course requires students to undertake a work placement, which may involve work with children or vulnerable adults, applicants who are not already in relevant employment will be required to obtain a Statement of Disclosure (DBS), for which a processing fee will be payable. Applications from individuals with non-standard qualifications, relevant work or life experience and who can demonstrate the ability to cope with and benefit from degree-level studies, are welcome and these applicants will be interviewed.
