This course can be studied full-time over 1 year, achieving a Higher National Certificate in Computing qualification, or over 2 years, achieving a Higher National Diploma in Computing qualification. This course is designed to equip you for a successful career in the IT industry. The course will give a comprehensive overview and thorough grounding in the main areas of modern computing, providing you with the real, practical skills needed in today’s competitive environment. It develops an appreciation of the need to implement a structured approach to programme design, and the necessary skills. It also provides a framework for sound technical and professional practices and an opportunity to develop both independent and co-operative work. Some of the areas you will cover are; programming, professional practice, database design/development, security, computer systems architecture, web design/development, business intelligence, algorithms, network security, advanced programming, games development, virtual and augmented reality development.

Entry requirements
Qualification requirements
You are required to have a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above to include English and Maths. We will accept Level 2 equivalences for English and Maths in place of GCSEs. We encourage applications from students who do not meet the entry requirements outlined but can demonstrate ability through work experience, portfolio of evidence or successful interview.

Institutions Own Test (IOT)
