Course summary
This MRes provides the technical knowledge and practical skills needed for research in industrial biochemistry. You'll gain experience of laboratory techniques used in the biopharma, bioarchaeology and healthy food industries. The course consists of 60 credits of assessed taught modules, supplemented by research tutorials and 120 credits of assessed research. In the taught modules, you will learn about biomolecular structure, properties and function. Entrepreneurial modules introduce you to a variety of creative problem solving techniques. You'll learn how to apply these techniques to develop, evaluate, and apply your ideas.
- You will complete a group mini-research project. This can be done in The National Centre for Macromolecular Hydrodynamics which is based on campus.
- There is also a 4-6 month research project which may take place on an industry placement or at the university.
Modules
You will take a combination of compulsory and optional modules. These modules will provide practical experience in laboratory techniques and introduce you to the challenges involved in manging, commercialising and marketing technological innovation.
