Course summary

This course will give you the advanced skills and knowledge needed to become an industry professional or researcher in this exciting and expanding area. Studying alongside CDT (Centre for Doctoral Training) students, you will gain a thorough and detailed understanding of the principles and techniques of additive manufacturing and 3D printing, the science and mathematical theory that underpins this, and the ability to apply this to your individual projects. You will also benefit from Nottingham's industrial links and research strengths in advanced manufacturing, like those established in the Institute for Advanced Manufacturing (IfAM).

Modules

Study takes place over three semesters, autumn, spring, and summer. You will start with a two week intensive module that examines both the basic implementation and theory of additive manufacturing. You will also be introduced to Metrology and will be part of cutting-edge lectures and experience hands-on training. You will also undertake a number of group and individual projects giving you the opportunity to work in small, multidisciplinary teams to individual research projects. Entry requirements

First or 2:1 honours degree or MSc with distinction in physics, chemistry, engineering, biological sciences or a related discipline.
