Course summary

Overview Cyber Security has become an integral aspect of both industry and everyday life with security breaches leading to data theft, fraud, corporate espionage and failures in national defence. Cyber Security is a rapidly developing field and this course has been designed and approved by a variety of UK Computing organisations. The course has been designed to give you the specific skills and knowledge to successfully start your career in the field of Cyber Security. As such you will study a variety of modules to give you both a solid grounding in Computing and specialist training in Cyber Security. In addition, you will complete a project in both years that will allow you to explore current advances in the field. If you find that you enjoy the research element this course will also allow you to obtain a BSc in Computing by completing an additional year at university. Entry Requirements Ideally you should have studied information technology (IT) at Level 3, but candidates with suitable experience or a strong desire to learn more about this industry will be considered. All applicants will require an initial assessment and interview by a member of the lecturing team. If you currently do not hold any of the above qualifications but have wide ranging and relevant experience in the Computing industry then, subject to interview, there may be enrolment upon the course. If you currently do not hold any of the above qualifications, the College may be able to offer you an alternative full-time course. Structure Teaching and Learning You will be taught via a mixture of lectures, online content, tutorials, workshops and independent research so that you develop a broad academic skillset. The expectation is that you will attend 15 hours of workshops, lectures and tutorial each week over a period of 30 weeks per academic year. Industry Links This course counts towards accreditation with the CompTIA - Security+ and AXELOS RESILIA programs and you will work towards completing these qualifications during the course.
