Course overview

  • Tackle a wide range of issues that are the subject of public and policy concern, domestically and globally, on our MA in Criminology. You’ll also have the option to gain a stand-alone qualification in the highly sought-after skill of mediation, and to complete a work placement.
  • Choose from a range of specialised modules, allowing you to tailor your learning to your interests and career aspirations.
  • The modules we offer are informed by cutting-edge research conducted by members of staff who possess expert knowledge in Criminology and Criminal Justice.
  • The optional year-long work placement develops both your academic ability and the skills and knowledge acquired in your first year of the course. It enhances your employability through first-hand experience in the field.

  • The time for completion of the full-time MA in Criminology (with Professional Placement) is normally two years. Three years is the usual duration if you opt for part-time study.
  • The MA in Criminology is normally completed in one year, or two years if you choose part-time study.
