Get ready to delve into the exciting world of video games with our new Game Art Foundation Degree. You will explore prop creation, game environment creation, modular assets, high polygon sculpture and character art as you learn to create assets in a variety of workflows and styles. Work alongside peers to ensure your projects reflect industry practice. About this course Explore current art trends and technological updates ensuring you stay updated with industry game art changes. You will learn how to critically analyse artwork and engage through your own game art creations.To reflect industry practice we promote the use of agile workflows and industry events such as Game Jams and Game Societies. As you progress through this course you will work across a wide range of projects, developing the workflows required to create game-ready assets. You will create environments and props and will sculpt realistic game characters. Additionally, you’ll learn how to implement these assets into a game engine, bringing your creations to life. We emphasise employability so your studies will be tailored to meet industry standards and adopt industry workflows. You will use professional software and tools to create game art and will render high-quality images for use within your professional portfolio.

Modules may include: Year 1 Introduction to 3D, Visual Design, Digital Sculpting, Project 1, Principles of Gameplay, Professional Development. Year 2 Advanced 3D, Character Art, Project 2, Art for Emerging Technologies, Employability Skills.

Modules will be formally assessed and graded through a range of methods, including: •Practical demonstrations •Portfolios •Reflections •Case studies •Solo and group projects •Evaluations •Academic posters This range of activities provides the opportunity for everyone to demonstrate the knowledge and skills that they have acquired throughout the course of their studies.
