Course summary
The School of Humanities, based in our historic Regent Street building, offers a vibrant, multidisciplinary research environment, at the centre of which are several innovative research groups and centres. We have a well-established PhD programme and you can study with us in, or across, a wide range of disciplines, including modern languages, visual culture, English literature, history, linguistics and translation studies.
Entry requirements
Applicants should have a minimum classification of 2.1 in their first degree or equivalent and preferably a master's degree (or masters degree pending). Applicants whose first degree has not been studied in English should have IELTS 6.5 overall and 6.0 in all elements. Applicants need to submit a research proposal of 2,000–3,500 words. It should include a title of proposed research, identify discipline and formulate research questions clearly. It should also include proposed research methodology and plan of work and time schedule. References are normally required and if not provided with your application will be requested at a later date.
