Course summary

This course is for anyone interested in a career in the computing industry, those currently working in the industry, and students who want to progress academically to gain a degree. You will learn key skills that will help you navigate the ever-expanding digital technologies world. The Higher National Diploma units prepare you to move on to specific areas of digital technologies at Level 6 or to enter employment with the qualities and abilities necessary for roles that require personal responsibility and decision-making. You will be able to develop and apply your own ideas to your studies, using both theory and practice in a wide range of digital technology situations. The course will ensure you understand programming applications and paradigms, cloud and networking fundamentals, cyber security, website development and database development, digital analytics, and more! The course will focus on other skills such as active research, effective writing, analytical skills, critical thinking, creative problem solving, and decision-making. This course is offered at our Wigston campus. Progression Opportunities Learners will be able to progress onto; Workplace, Degree apprenticeships or further HE studies either going to University for a specific course pathway or remaining with the college to complete the BSc top-up in tandem with Coventry University.

Assessment method

The assessment method is internally assessed coursework which is verified internally and externally by the awarding body. Evidence may consist of a Digital Portfolio, practical evidence, working applications, written reports, presentations, and potentially video evidence.
