Cyber-criminals and their attacks are more sophisticated than ever. As more and more people and organisations are using digital devices to complete everyday tasks, the amount of data available to a cybercriminal is immense and ever growing. Cyber-criminals are able to infiltrate systems and organisations with ease taking data and proving their skills in the process. This fast-growing area of computer science will allow you to develop your interest in computer science and enhance it by specialising in cyber security to help combat cyber attacks and develop your skills in software engineering.
Modules
How to interrogate systems and use tools and techniques to identify the damage caused Cryptography and how it can be used to address security concerns How to preserve evidence and working within a legal and ethical framework in case your evidence is used in criminal proceedings. How to write your own scripts to help with system interrogation How to actively manage threats
Assessment method
The course will build your understanding, skills and confidence in programming, Command Line Operating Systems and Ethical Hacking, allowing you to understand and identify when and if a cyber-attack is occurring.As you complete the practical elements and assessments of this course you will develop an ability to think conceptually and logically to identify issues and create suitable solutions. This course also covers a range of academic and practical elements including developing workplace skills transferable to employment such as research skills, problem solving and critical thinking. You can expect to enter roles such as Cyber Security Analyst, Network Security, Ethical Hacker / Penetration Tester and Digital forensic Officer after completing this course.
Qualified teacher status (QTS)
