Course summary

Developed in consultation with employers, this programme will support you in developing an understanding of the fundamentals of how organisations operate, the impact of supply and demand patterns and how an effective and efficient management of procurement, logistics and operations, as well as harnessing Industry 5.0 technologies, can help achieve competitive advantage. Developed in an integrated manner that starts with core principles, you will be equipped with specific subject skills on resource allocation, negotiation, forecasting, costing, contract development, managing supplier performance, risk and mitigation and scheduling. In addition, the modules will provide you with a unique opportunity to develop and apply core skills, such as problem solving, leadership, digital and data management, which are all highly required by employers. The course culminates in a business simulation project, which draws together key elements from the previous module and gives you the opportunity to use these in an applied and industry-relevant setting. This course is mapped to the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education Occupational Standard for Commercial Procurement and Supply, meaning it develops in students the knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) demanded by employers in this sector.
