The course has been tailored to help students find their own fashion signature and prepare them for a range of exciting roles within the fashion industry. Awarded by the University for the Creative Arts, this three-year course will enable you to assess global shifts in fashion from a cultural, ethical and technological viewpoint. There will also be a core focus on fashion media and promotional activities such as styling, photography and image-making, creative direction, conceptual installations and schemes, moving image, retail and marketing, events, shows and curation. Additionally, the fashion communication and promotion aspect of this BA programme will enhance your skills in engaging with specific audiences by looking at creative written content for digital and print platforms. Through a deep analysis of each level of fashion business, from high street shops to luxury brands, you will have the chance to hone your skills and specialise in one specific area of fashion media and promotion. By the end of this course, you will have the transferable skills needed to thrive in today’s ever-changing fashion world and leave your mark as a visionary fashion communicator. Year 1: Year one of this fashion media and promotion programme will significantly enhance your fashion communication skills, teaching you how to effectively promote and market initial fashion concepts. As well as gaining a fundamental understanding of the fashion media industry, the first year will allow you to stimulate your creativity and develop innovative approaches to fashion promotion. Combining theory with practice, this year will also teach you how to analyse innovative fashion imagery and understand the role of a fashion communicator in creating specific looks for brands and clients. Year 2: Throughout second year of this fashion communication and promotion course, you will have the chance to define your fashion identity by assessing which area of the industry you would like to specialist in. There will be a strong emphasis on fashion communication and media learning. You will also develop professionally by taking part in an industry placement and completing a self-reflecting audit which will help in the curation of your creative portfolio. Year 3: Combining all your theoretical knowledge and practical skills, the third year of this course will enable you to demonstrate all the specialist skills from previous project work via portfolio work. This is your chance to truly define your fashion identity through either a dissertation or research theory and practice project.
