Our popular course provides specialist training in teaching physical education and sport. We aim to develop PE teachers capable of working effectively across a range of teaching and practical activities in secondary school settings. We provide you with essential knowledge and skills in this important area of education, such as the professional, statutory, and regulatory requirements within the PE sector. Your training takes place in two different secondary schools and in university environments. By the end of your studies, you will be a confident, competent, and effective teacher of physical education with the ability to reflect on both theory and practice. Our lectures delivered by experts in their field will help you widen your individual skills, expertise and background knowledge in your subject specialism. Assessment method

Continuous assessment of classroom skills and teaching effectiveness builds towards a professional development portfolio. There are also written and practical assignments with opportunities for Master's level credits in the postgraduate version.

Qualified teacher status (QTS)

To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:

Entry requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: • An undergraduate (honours) degree at 2:2 or above in a relevant subject • In addition, you will need: GCSE Mathematics, GCSE English Language and GCSE Science all at grade 4/C. Equivalent qualifications may be considered. APPLICATION AND SELECTION: • Suitable applicants will be required to attend an interview/selection day. • Applicants will also be required to: o Provide an academic or professional reference. o Complete a Suitability Declaration. o Pass an Occupational Health check. o Pass an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
