Explore many different modes of performance to develop your practical skills and knowledge of contemporary theatre - whether you want to direct, perform, work backstage or teach others. Perform in venues on-campus and around Cambridge Tailor your modules towards your ideal career Use our performance culture to practise and perform alongside students from other courses Develop technical and production skills supported by our specialist staff Our BA (Hons) Drama will help you grow into a confident, versatile and exciting drama practitioner, whichever field you hope to work in. With a focus on performance, you’ll work on public productions and smaller-scale projects, exploring texts and practices from the 20th century onwards as well as devising your own productions. You’ll also have the chance to work with students from other courses, such as Performing Arts and Music, to create innovative and daring performance practice and give you experience of group collaboration. With our optional modules, you can choose to weight your studies towards drama theory or performance, or even specialise further towards a particular career, such as directing or dramatherapy. Our close links with local companies, including venues such as Cambridge Junction, will help you make contact with industry leaders and gain work experience in professional theatre environments, both backstage and front of house. During each of your first two years of study, you’ll put on a performance at our on-campus Mumford Theatre and, in your third year, at a commercial venue in Cambridge. Outside of the course, you’ll also find opportunities for work experience at the Mumford, as well as the chance to see regular performances by professional touring companies and musicians. Our internships will give you the chance to experience the production side of running a professional touring theatre company, such as with the award-winning New International Encounter. You can also volunteer for our Anglia Ruskin Community Theatre Company, putting on workshops and performances at local schools to get more experience of being part of a professional ensemble. All this experience will make it easier for you to find work with theatre companies when you graduate - or even to create your own. One of our recent students, Oliver Scott, formed Momentum Theatre after graduating, and now leads acting workshops as well as being a radio presenter, director and professional actor.
