Primary instrument/specialism
- Screen
The BA Filmmaking is a scripted, drama-based, practical filmmaking programme aimed at those who are passionate about storytelling in cinema and television. It is a rich and challenging environment for students who are keen to develop their storytelling skills and have the passion to produce and develop exciting drama content. At RCS you have the opportunity to work with actors, composers, dancers and musicians, as well as your peers from production. The programme has critical thinking at its core, with workshops and seminars designed to enhance your ability to appreciate what has gone before as you craft the stories of the future. You will benefit from industry contacts, which can include working on professional sets, masterclasses and expert tuition from industry practitioners. We will help you to develop your ideas and your creativity to the highest level, as well as offering you the opportunity to make films, tell stories and develop craft skills. IMPORTANT Due to the programme review, you will need to choose a specialism (one of six) at the point of creating your Acceptd account. You need to submit your Acceptd account by the application deadline date of the 31st January 2024. The specialisms available are: Writing, Cinematography, Editing, Directing, Sound and Production. Curriculum Review We are currently in the review cycle for our DDPF undergraduate programmes starting in 2024, these courses are currently designated 'subject to revalidation'. This is standard practice during curriculum review periods. The outcome of this processes, may mean there are some changes to how your programme is delivered.
During the application and audition process, you must select which instrument(s) you wish to specialise in for the duration of your course. On this course, you can choose from the following options:
Only one instrument is studied. It may be possible to study a further instrument formatively, but this will not contribute towards the qualification.
For all courses, you must select at least one specialism from the 'primary' list. For those studying primary/secondary pathways, two instruments may be selected – one from the 'primary' list and one from the 'secondary' list. Joint pathway students may select any two instruments from either list.
*If you are an international applicant, or you are applying for a postgraduate course, or are choosing certain assessment locations, the 'on time' deadline may be later in the year - please contact the conservatoire directly.
This is the deadline for applications to be completed and sent for this course. If the university or college still has places available you can apply after this date, but your application is not guaranteed to be considered.
