The Professional Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) is the graduate entry route to those who want to become a Primary or Secondary teacher in Scotland. The PGDE is an internationally recognised qualification, newly qualified teachers will be able to apply for qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent in their home country. Why PGDE Business Education at Strathclyde? This course is a professional training course which qualifies you to teach secondary education. The qualification is recognised throughout the world and is regulated by the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) and the Scottish Government. You learn from on-campus classes and 18 weeks of placements in schools in Scotland. The qualification allows you to teach in locations worldwide. If you're a Scottish, rest of UK or EU student, you're guaranteed a job for one year in a Scottish school after you graduate. The entry requirements for PGDE courses are based on the requirements set by the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS). A Business & Management degree (Honours) preferred validated by a higher education institution in the United Kingdom or a degree of an equivalent standard from an institution outside the United Kingdom. Honours degrees in related subjects (e.g. Accounting, Economics, Human Resources, Marketing, Event Management, Risk Management) may be suitable subject to meeting the minimum entry requirements. The degree should contain at least 80 credits relevant to business and these credits must be within the following subjects: a minimum of 15 credits in Accounting and Finance, a minimum of 15 credit in Economics, the remaining credits coming from modules in Business Management relevant to the school curriculum (e.g. Marketing, Human Resource Management, Management). Applicants must be able to demonstrate evidence of recent study (within five years of the course start date) related to relevant Information Technology Skills. (NB study in Computing Science is not accepted). You should also demonstrate evidence of recent Information Technology Skills, including e.g. achievement of ECDL, National 5 or Higher Administration & IT. Other alternatives at a minimum of SCQF level 5 will be accepted on an individual basis subject to the agreement of the Admissions Selector.
