Course summary

As pressures on the criminal justice sector increase, the demand for different types of officer training has increased. This has resulted in developing new undergraduate education routes for all new recruits, offering formal recognition of the skills and knowledge required to be an effective police officer. Our Applied Criminal Justice Top-Up is designed to acknowledge the skills and knowledge of serving officers, gained through occupational experience. It offers a route into higher education in which you can engage in the evidence-based movement of police professionalisation. The Top-Up degree brings together the knowledge, experience and theory that underpin criminal justice practices. You’ll gain an undergraduate qualification and academic recognition to support your wealth of occupational experience. You’ll benefit from UWE Bristol’s respected reputation as an established provider of policing and criminology education. Get access to the latest policing and forensic science facilities on Frenchay Campus, where you’ll test your knowledge in a safe learning environment.
