Enhance your career options with a year-long industrial placement with employers which include local accountancy firms or national organisations such as the NHS. During this year, you will not pay fees to the University and will earn a wage for the work that you do. Accounting and Finance at Salford Business School helps you develop the essential skills and knowledge for a high level career in accountancy, finance, banking and insurance as well as general management positions. With a curriculum that is career-focused and industry-informed, this is a challenging programme designed to provide you with a thorough understanding of accounting and finance within the wider context of business and management. You will also look ahead to the technologies – such as automation and artificial intelligence – that will affect the work of accountants in the future. The programme is accredited by the major industry bodies so you know that what you learn is aligned with industry standards and you can benefit for exemptions from some professional exams. Our academic and professional services teams are here to support you throughout your degree. In 2019, 100% of students asked agreed they have been able to contact staff when they needed to (University of Salford analysis of unpublished NSS 2019 data). Year 1; Financial and Management Accounting, Business and the Accountant, Principles of Economics, Accounting Information Systems, Digital and Business Skills, Data Analysis for Business. Year 2; Professional Development, Legal Aspects of Business, Regulatory and Economic Environment, Financial Planning and Software Applications, Financial Accounting and Reporting, Financial and Management Information Systems. On completion of year 2, you may choose to undertake a year's paid professional placement. If you choose to take the professional year option, you will not pay fees to the University and will earn a wage for the work that you do. Year 3; Advanced Management Accounting, Advanced Financial Reporting, Business Finance, The Professional Accountant
