Course summary

Having the ability to apply technical detail is at the heart of engineering, and core to Salford’s values, so we strive to embed this as a core learning objective throughout your studies. In year one, you'll explore analogue and digital electronics, mathematics, risk and management, and computer networking. As you progress to year two, you'll broaden your knowledge of electronics systems, mathematics, machines and drives, and digital signal processing. Your final year will include aspects of power and control systems, embedded systems and hybrid and electronic vehicles. Modules include a significant amount of project work aimed at developing practical skills. You'll conclude your studies with an individual project, based on an area of interest. Industry Placements Industry placements are a great opportunity to get some hands-on experience and make those early career connections. On this course, you'll have the option to take an industry placement between years two and three. Although you’ll be responsible for securing your placement, our tutors will support you, monitor your progress and assess your final placement report. By successfully completing a placement year, you can also add 'with professional experience' to your final degree award. Our new home for engineering In Autumn 2022, we opened our new £65 million hub for science, engineering and the environment - and our new home for engineering. Sustainability-designed and 100% electric powered, the building offers unrivalled teaching, learning and research facilities and provides exciting new spaces for industry collaboration.
