Course summary
Do you have a strong interest in supporting and working alongside children and their families? If so, this course could be for you. Taught at NTU in Mansfield, you will engage with a broad knowledge base concerned with children and society, which will open up a wide range of opportunities in education, social and health services, community work and other diverse support work. On completion of the foundation degree you will be eligible to top-up to a degree in various subjects such as BA Social Work, BA Youth Work or continue with a top-up in Working with Children, Young People and Families.

There are six modules in year one each worth 20 credits Child and Adolescent Development Reflection, Assessment and Intervention Strategies in Social Work 1 Preparing for Professional Practice Social Policy Rights, Ethics and Safeguarding Informal Education, Youth and Community There are six modules in year two each worth 20 credits Social Inclusion Skills Development for Professional Practice Parenting Theory and Practice Working with SEN and Vulnerable Individuals Residential Care and Social Pedagogy Reflection Assessment and Intervention Strategies in Social Work 2
Assessment method
Teaching learning and assessment will be varied, appealing to a diverse range of learners, and make use of technology in the form of electronic portfolios, blogs, and simulation suites.
