Course summary
Develop your creative and practical abilities in fashion and textiles under professional expertise in our well-equipped studio spaces. You will be encouraged to experiment and explore ideas, as well as develop finished products from sketchbooks to final outcomes. You will explore various areas of fashion and textiles including pattern construction, garment manufacture, printed, knitted, woven and embroidered textiles. Benefiting from regular visits to museums, galleries and fashion trade events, which in the past have included Premier Vision in Paris and Printsource in New York, as well as visits to other European cities. You will also have the opportunity to specialise and develop further practical skills to a personal conclusion, presenting your work in exhibitions and/or on the catwalk. Research can be undertaken using the excellent community learning resource centre with subscriptions to trade publications, online facilities and the networked learning environment. Whist this is a full-time course, typically this course generally only requires 1-2 days on campus attendance, supported by self-directed study. This means you can continue to work alongside your studies and balance other commitments. This programme is not open to students requiring a Student visa to study in the UK. Graduates will have the skills to set up their own business, work freelance or gain employment through their work experience. Students can progress on to the BA (Hons) Arts Practice (Progression Year) at the University of Suffolk.
