Course summary

From the delivery of energy systems and iconic structures to water storage and provision, civil engineers create the large-scale infrastructure that makes our daily lives possible. Our integrated masters degree is designed to create civil engineering graduates who can display professional judgement and in depth knowledge. You will leave this course equipped with the knowledge and understanding of classical core engineering principles and the ability to apply your skills creatively and responsibly to resolve real-world engineering problems. Graduates will be able to work towards chartered Engineer status. Our MEng Civil Engineering degree is influenced by government initiatives, the guidance of our industry partners and relevant professional bodies to ensure our teaching is at the forefront of this sector. This course has been designed to meet the requirements of the Joint Board of Moderators for accreditation, this ensures that the skills and knowledge taught by our academics are relevant to the workplace and in line with latest developments within the industry. Throughout your studies you will undertake local field study trips. You will also have the option to undertake a year’s paid work placement between your second and fourth year.

Assessment method

Teaching is backed up by a well-designed support system that will underpin your learning journey. You will have access to a Guidance Tutor with whom you can discuss any academic issues. Extensive feedback from both tutors and peers is built into the course.
