Course information This course is accredited by the University College Birmingham OVERVIEW Contemporary issues and challenges in global public health have seen an increased demand for those working within public health to develop a deeper understanding of the wider social determinants of health and public health systems. If you enjoy learning about core principles and practices that underpin the promotion of health in society, prevention of illness and how to support positive health and wellbeing, this may be the perfect fit for you. The MSc in Public Health provides you with a comprehensive underpinning of the policy and practice underpinning public health, such as multi agency working across different sectors and the underlying causes of public health-related issues. The course will enable you to develop a sound understanding of public health policy and the knowledge and skills necessary to lead on and improve health outcomes. These skills will be vital in applying knowledge to practice and giving you the core competencies that you can apply to prospective employment. Assessment method

For the most up-to-date information, please refer to our website: www.ucb.ac.uk TEACHING AND ASSESSMENTStudents will experience various teaching methods and settings, including lectures, workshops, tutorials, individual and group presentations. Our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) provides students with a range of electronic resources, which will help facilitate face-to-face learning. Students will also be supported with weekly graduate advantage sessions. A range of authentic assessment methods are available to students. This includes a combination of written and oral examinations, coursework, presentations, projects and practical assessments. These authentic assessments will reflect workplace scenarios, including an evaluation and critical analysis of a public health campaign. Central to these, will be the student’s ability to engage in reflective practice to review public health processes and their approach to these. There will also be a dissertation component, where students are able to carry out a project of their choosing. Entry requirements
**Academic** · Applicants must have an honours degree (2:2 or above) in a health, biological or social sciences-related degree. · Applications from candidates with relevant experience will be considered on an individual basis. Each application will be considered on its merits and the final decision will be made by the programme leader. · English and maths GCSEs at grade C/grade 4 or above (or equivalent), non-standard entry applicants will be considered on their merits. Evidence of qualification must be submitted.
