Course summary

This HND in Computing course is for learners who wish to gain a Higher Level Computing qualification or work in the IT & Computing industry. It is suitable for those working in IT or who want to progress their career. Learners are taught through a combination of lectures, practical work in state of the art facilities and using a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). The methods of assessment differ for each module studied; assignment work, examinations or tests are used throughout the programme. This is a dynamic industry which will have a significant impact on our future economic development and prosperity.

CAVC will also consider applicants’ prior learning when considering their application on to the programme through Recognition of Prior Learning. Applications from mature students, without the standard entry requirements but with related work experience, will be considered.

Students have access to a wide range of resources including textbooks, publications, and computers in the College library and via online resources. In most cases they are more than sufficient to complete a course of study. Where there are additional costs, either obligatory or optional, these are detailed on the College website (on individual course pages). Of course students may choose to purchase their own additional personal resources/tools over and above those listed to support their studies at their own expense. All stationery and printing costs are at a student’s own expense. EU students who have settled or pre-settled status in the UK under the EU Settlement Scheme, may be eligible for student finance and be designated as a home student for fees purposes. Irish nationals are eligible for support under the Common Travel Area arrangement.
